Congratulations to 18 Red and 17 Red for earning Bids to the 2012 USAV Championships in Columbus, OH. 18 Red just missed having a perfect weekend losing to champion Northshore in the 18 Gold Finals. With the 2nd place finish, 18 Red earns an American bid. 17 Red defeated Toledo 17-1 in the Gold Championship to earn the National bid. Good luck at Nationals!

Iris Brewer selected as Prep Volleyball Academic All American

Congratulations to Iris Brewer of 18 Red and Ursuline Academy for being recognized by Prep Volleyball as a 2011 Academic All American. Iris was on the Highest Honorable Mention list. There are only 95 players across the country recognized for this award. She is one of 2 players chosen from the state of Ohio. Here are her statistics from last year.

Iris Brewer, 6-0 S, Ursuline Academy (Cincinnati, Ohio) — A First Team All-League, Second Team All-

District and Third Team All-State performer, Brewer, a Wingate signee, had 809 assists in 2011 for one of

the best teams in Ohio. She added 120 kills, 182 digs and 57 blocks. In the classroom, Brewer has a 4.37

weighted GPA in Ursuline’s highly competitive academic environment and scored a 31 on her ACT. “Her

GPA is a testament to her unwavering dedication to academics and her steadfast work ethic.” said coach

14 Titanium Wins OVR Regional Challenge

Congratulations to 14 Titanium for winning Gold at the OVR Regional Challenge at Nothin’ But Net Sports on March 10-11. On the first day of pool play, 14 Titanium defeated Borderline 14 Black and Tarheels 14 Blue but lost to Clippard YMCA to place 2nd in the pool. The second day of pool play had 14 Titanium up against all 3 Cincy East teams, Navy, White, and Silver. 14 Titanium took first place and moved on to the Gold bracket semi-finals against Matchpoint and defeated them in 2 sets. In the championship match, 14 Titanium defeated Cincy East 14 Navy in 2 sets to bring home the Gold. Great job girls!

16 Silver Wins OVR Regional Challenge

Congratulations to 16 Silver for winning Gold at the OVR Regional Challenge at the Buckeye Volleyball Center in Columbus, OH on March 10-11. 16 Silver defeated SOVC Smack in the finals to earn their first tournament win of the season. Way to go girls!
