Club History
Cincy Classics Volleyball Club was started at GE Park in 1997 by Al Royse. In our first year we had four teams for ages 12 through 15. Today we have over twenty teams for ages 10 through 18 and we are consistently ranked within the top twenty teams in the country. Cincy Classics teams have won 4 National titles and numerous runner-up awards. This includes our 12 Red and 16 Red teams who both placed 2nd at Nationals last season. Cincy Classics was also the first club in the Ohio Valley Region to win an Open Qualifier tournament (by current 16 Red coach Cristina Webb). This year we plan to have over twenty teams available and will also provide regional teams for ages 12-15 for players who wish to compete at a more local and less expensive alternative.
Mission
Cincy Classics is dedicated to promoting the sport of volleyball focused on training our players to play to the best of their ability, stressing fundamentals, advanced volleyball techniques, and strategies. At the same time, players will learn the meaning of team, a strong sense of sportsmanship, fair play, and enjoyment of playing the game at a highly competitive level. In addition, several Cincy Classics players have gotten scholarships to prominent colleges and others have gotten scholarships to colleges where their educational needs were met.
Leadership
In addition to founding the club, Al is still the Club Director in addition to being the Director of GE Park. Connie Sternberg joined Cincy Classics in 2000 as the Financial Director and Assistant Club Director. Nicole Salisbury joined Cincy Classics as a coach in 2004 and has been part of Cincy Classics for the last 5 years. Last season Nicole became a Club Director and the Financial Director. John Spinney was also named a Club Director and Coach Training Director last year as well. Together the four of us lead Cincy Classics Volleyball Club to be the best it can be. We continue to try and improve every aspect of our staff each year to provide the best experience to our players and their families.
